Panasonic HDC-TM700-Review

The Panasonic HDC-TM700 not only costs less than its Sony and Canon rivals, but it can also do something they can’t: It records in 1080/60p (progressive) high definition, which is smoother than its rivals’ 1080/60i (interlaced) footage. Video looks sharper, too, thanks to Panasonic’s higher bitrate. The Panasonic also includes a color viewfinder — which you’ll also find on the pricier Canon Vixia HF S21 (*Est. $1,250) and Sony HDR-CX550V (*Est. $1,150) — and a lens ring, which you won’t find on those competitors. Experts love that Panasonic still uses the old-fashioned lens ring, which they say feels more intuitive than the little dials and touch-screen controls other brands now use.
